Alta Badia is located in a large valley surrounded all around by the gorgeous peaks of the Dolomites. Because of its geographic position and also because of the warm sense of hospitality of its population, Alta Badia can be considered "the heart of the Dolomites". With 6 villages grouped in 3 Administrations (Corvara, Badia and La Valle) Alta Badia gradually transformed itself into an avantgarde tourist area without threatening the environment and keeping intact its alpine character.

The village of Corvara, with the hamlets of Corvara (1568 m) and Colfosco (1645 m), has a local population of 1277 and can accomodate 6258 tourists.

The village of Badia, with the hamlets of La Villa (1433 m), San Cassiano (1537 m) and Pedraces (1324 m), has a local population of 2845 people and accomodations for 7378.

The village of La Valle, with the hamlets of La Val (1353 m) and Pederoa (1324 m), has a local population of 1230 people and accomodations for 780..
