Armentarola ski: the perfect winter in the heart of the Dolomites

The Armentarola slope is 7.3 km long and connects Cortina d’Ampezzo with Alta Badia.

It is considered a red slop of medium difficulty, with an altitude difference of about 700m. The starting point of this incredible track is Falzarego Pass, in Veneto, which can be easily reached by cable car. It ends in Armentarola, from here you can be pulled by horses to the cable car that will take you to the area of Alta Badia.

It is one of the most beautiful and fascinating slopes of the Dolomites. You will pass through rocks, breathtaking views and ice falls. It is impossible not to stop and admire the spectacle of nature that surrounds this track. For example, ice falls are a phenomenon that can be observed throughout the winter: water flows out of the cracks in the rocks, which immediately turns into ice due to the very cold temperatures.

Along the way you can stop in two refuges to rest: the Lagazuoi and the Scotoni refuge. Both located in an enviable position, surrounded by almost magical landscapes, offer a pleasant stop from the descent. Children will find a playground and a fence with alpacas, thus experiencing a fantastic day of fun.

Armentarola hiking: summer between nature, relax and fun

In Armentarola the hikes are various kinds and difficulties: from trekking to climbing, from mountain biking or cycling and many others.

Paths are waiting for you to walk with your family or in solitude in contact with nature, discovering the wonderful world of Dolomites.

The walk to the Malga Valparola, for example, is ideal for families with children. You will find yourself in nature, along incredible landscapes and pastures in bloom. Another path is the meditation path that ends at the Sass Dlacia chapel and along the way you will find statues and signs with prayers and quotations. Immersed in the nature of Dolomites, you can therefore find your inner balance.

For hikers with a higher level of difficulty, Armentarola offers the high mountain trail to discover the Dolomites. You can reach the Conturines at 2800 meters above sea level where were found the remains of the Ursus Ladinicus, a prehistoric bear to which was dedicated a museum in San Cassiano.
