San Cassiano: paradise for cross-country skiers and excursionists

San Cassiano (or in German Sankt Kassian) is a notable area of South Tyrol that makes up part of the municipality of Badia. The land used to be used mainly for taking livestock to pasture; the Ladin word armenc in fact corresponds to the word "armento" in Italian, which means "herd". That is why the nearby borough was given the name Armentarola. This last borough is very well known among lovers of cross-country skiing and excursions because it offers breath-taking trails that lead to beautiful and unexpected landscapes.

San Cassiano is a highly admired tourist destination both during winter and summertime. Its location at the foot of the Conturines, Lavarella and Lagazuoi distinguishes itself for the wide array of outdoor sports available. In the winter this area is completely covered with snow and is a true paradise for all skiers. Mild weather during the summer months is ideal for enjoying outdoor sports and activities for anyone who loves being surrounded by nature and all its beauty. Also, don't forget to visit the town's church where you can admire an antique painting from 1876 by Franz Rudiferia, which portrays the Creator of the Universe.
